Preparing for the Storm

The sun is brightly shining as a gentle breeze ruffles my hair. The air is warm and balmy, instilling a peaceful feeling deep inside me. It's hard to believe that only a mere 24 hours prior it was raining and storming. We had boarded up the windows, stocked up on food and gathered matches and fuel in the event of a power outage. We were awaiting a potentially devestating typhoon. But it never came. Despite all we did to prepare, it never came.

It's amazing how quick and eager we are to prepare for a disaster that is not even definite. No one knew for sure when the typhoon would hit, or if it would even come at all, but we all wanted to be prepared...just incase. Yet, we sit around and wait idly for Jesus to come. We know for sure that Jesus is coming back for us. We don't know when, but we know that it is definite - but, what do we do to prepare? Why aren't we moving quickly to be sure that everyone and everything is ready?

We should be boarding up the windows to our souls to keep the attacks of the devil out. We should be stocking up on Living Water and the Bread of Life so we won't be lacking in the time of trouble. We need to make sure we have enough matches and fuel to keep the fire burning in the darkness that will surrounds us. We should be telling others so they will be prepared, too.

A small storm in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is so insignificant to the coming of our Savior, but our actions speak otherwise. We need to work even harder to be sure we are prepared!
