The Light Brigade
The Charge of the Light Brigade was written by Lord Alfred Tennyson about a real battle that took place during the Crimean War in 1854. Hundreds of men were commanded to charge into "the valley of Death" as Tennyson describes it. It was a disasterous attempt and barely a third came back unharmed. But the lesson isn't drawn from any of that. The lesson, as explained by Grant in staff worship this morning, comes from a few short lines in Tennyson's poem:
The soldiers never stopped to ask why or object to the command; they just took their orders and trusted their General one hundres percent. There's a huge lesson here for us to learn as Christians. Sometimes God may ask something of us that just doesn't seem to make sense, but we can't see the big picture. God knows exactly what He's doing and we should be ready to follow His command with out stopping to ask why. So trust God, and follow Him into battle!

Their's but to do and die."
