Parade of Lights
Sunday I awoke, still feeling the effects of jet lag. It was hard to get myself motivated to do anything and I even fell asleep in a chair after talking on the phone with my brother! But Monday, Christmas Eve, I had a little more bounce in my step. It was a busy day preparing for Christmas: cooking, sewing, wrapping gifts..... I was pleased with how much I got accomplished.
After supper, we piled into the car. My dad drove, with my grandma up front, and my mom and I were in the back. We were off for a Christmas Eve drive - the Parade of Lights. For several years now, our city has hosted a Parade of Lights in which they post a list of nicely decorated houses so people can drive around and visit them. That's how we spent our Christmas Eve....

First stop was the Tree of Hope. It's super tall and a beautiful sight to see.

From there we wove through the streets of town, down by the lake, up onto the hill, through the orchards and then back onto our side of the city. My dad knows the streets like the back of his hand from this 23 years of going to peoples' houses to clean their chimneys, and if he didn't know where the road was, my mom was right there with her map. She's a map whiz and had it all figured out. By the time we saw all the houses on the "Parade" we had been driving around for almost 3 hours! Despite frozen toes and a full bladder, it was a lot of fun! Here are some more pictures of what we saw.....

Cool lights! Some people really go all out on that stuff. That would be way too much for me!
Good luck with the jet lag! It's worse going from here to there. . .
