Australian Adventures - Monday, March 24
A beautiful drive....A swollen river....A yellow boat....A healthy amount of speed....Awesome people....A delicious picnic lunch. All of these things made for a wonderful day!
It was about an hour drive up through the Gillies mountain range. Before the range started, we saw Mt. Pyramid - the highest single standing mountain in the world - it's not connected to any range.
As we wound up through the mountains - 158 corners - the climate began to change as it turned from savanna to forest. When we got to the other side, we found ourselves in an area called the Tablelands. It was beautiful - gently rolling hills, green pastures, farm houses, happy cattle....I loved it! The image of the sun peaking through the clouds, smiling down on the peaceful hills is one I will remember forever.

The never-ending sugar cane fields on the savanna
At the river, we all took turns riding the biscuit, skiing, knee-boarding, etc. The sun came and went, and some rain fell, but we all had a lovely day!Setting up for lunch
