Australian Adventures - Sunday, March 23
Want to know a great way to start the day? Pounding footsteps, heaving chest, a gentle breeze, a slight drizzle, a massive rainbow, a dip in the pool.......a fantastic morning run! It was a great way to start the day and the new week - so refreshing and rejuvenating!
The activity for today was jungle lazer tag! So much fun! Due to the age of our students (meaning that they haven't realized that boys and girls are supposed to like each other), the teams ended up being the girls and adults on one side (the "Caps"), and all the boys on the other side (the "Bucket Hats", but with the Australian accent it actually sounded like "Bugger Dots").
The first few games, our team got slaughtered because we didn't really know what we were doing and we had no one leading out, telling us what to do....but then David joined our team. David is a teenage boy who helps out at the field since he plays there all the time. And since he plays there all the time, he's really good! He was exactly what our team needed - leadership. As soon as the whistle blew to start the game, he started shouting orders, "Go! Go! Go! Advance as far as you can!" We rushed forward into the jungle and started firing at our enemies. That game, we got out everyone one the opposing team, except for one!
Good, strong leadership makes a world of difference! I think that's what God intended when he put man and woman together and designated the man to be the leader of the home - not necessarily someone to bark out orders and tell us what to do - but someone who was strong enough to lead and guide through the trials and life. We were meant to have good, strong, male leaders in our lives.
