A Quick Trip to the Holy Land!
With the days flying off the calendar at a unbelievable pace, the four of us want to spend as much time together as possible. Besides praying together every morning, we just enjoy spending time together. So since we had Wednesday off school for Thanksgiving break, we decided to go to the Holy Land!!! It's a "living, biblical museum" located here in Orlando that takes you through a simulated Holy Land experience. It was a beautiful day and we were excited about going, but also about just hanging out together for the whole day off campus and away from school!!!
They had a huge (world's largest) model of Jerusalem in A.D. 66. A guide took us through the history of Jerusalem from the time David made it his capital until it was destroyed in by the Romans in A.D. 70. The model is very detailed and well done. Our guide pointed out all the places that we read about in the Bible like Calvary, the pool of Bethsaida, the location of the last supper, etc. It was really cool to imagine all the Bible stories that we were taught growing up while looking at the model and listening to the history. Here in the picture, you can see Herod's temple between Andrew and Erik.
This was a reenactment of the Wedding at Cana and Jesus' first miracle. All the performances were very well done, and very musical! It was fun to watch these well-known Bible stories being acted out!
This was a reenactment of one of the feast celebrations. It was really fun to think about how joyous these celebrations must have been! The music, the cultural dancing, the colors all contribute to such a happy atmosphere! They sang one song at the beginning called "Hinei Matov" which we learned for week of prayer last spring. This was a reenactment of the betrayal of Jesus until the resurrection. Afterward, we talked and reflected on the meaning of what Jesus did for us on the cross

This was a brief presentation about the Dead Sea Scrolls - very cool!

The day ended with a light and fountain show choreographed to music. It was beautiful with the backdrop of a marvelous sunset!

Just for fun..... I wish you could all meet Erik, Virginia and Andrew and get to know their unique and fun personalities, but since you can't, watch this short video clip of one of our funny moments together. Here we were waiting to go into the Scriptorium which walked us through the history of how the Bible was preserved throughout time. They had several manuscripts of the ancient writings!
In between the tours and presentations, we had enough time to goof off and have some fun!
