Most Special Sabbath of the Year!

I believe that March 28 was (and will remain as) the most special Sabbath of the entire year - we met together to worship for the first time down at the Mission Center in Muaklek!!! That's what we're here for - to plant a church in this little town, and this Sabbath was the first step in that direction!

We're starting off small, to get things going. There were about 12 of us: me, Andrew, Bah & Seyha (the 2 college students helping and living at the Center), a retired pastor and his wife (who just came for support), and a man named Wow (nickname) and his family. Wow will be the main leader of our group - he is a Theology student here at Mission College, so this will be a great project for him while he's studying to become a pastor. We also had our nextdoor neighbor, the barber, pop in and out between haircuts during Sabbath School. He seemed quite interested and happy to be there. And after Sabbath School, he left and came back with a small blue book, which I believe was a Thai Bible.... I think he wanted to show us that he's interested and already has a Bible to read! Please pray for this man, that the Holy Spirit will continue to stir his heart!

Wow and his family, presenting a special song
Suk San Wan Sabato - Happy Sabbath!!!

One of the many Thai/English songs we sang together - it's so beautiful to hear the familiar songs being sung in the Thai language

After worshiping together, we continued to fellowship by eating a delicious meal together: red rice, sticky rice, steamed greens, chili sauce, corn, salad, and som tom!

It was so beautiful to be able to worship together. It wasn't fancy or formal. It wasn't overly planned or structured. But it was authentic worship - real and sincere. As we continue to worship together, we plan to invite our students and other people from the community that we've been getting to know. We're praying for spiritual eye glasses, so we know when and how and who to invite. Please join us in praying for this project, this town, and these people!
