Bamboo School

While in the Kanchanaburi area, we got to visit a special place known as "the Bamboo School." It's way out in the mountains, about 8 km from the Myanmar border. It was a beautiful drive out there.

It literally is a bamboo school.....


The majority of the children who attend the school are Burmese refugee children. They stay at the Bamboo School and attend Thai school during the day, and learn about Jesus and study English in the evenings. If they attend a Thai school for 6 years, the government will give them papers so they have identification and they will no longer be refugees, but will be legal to be in Thailand.

While most students are refugee children, this little girl on the left is also an orphan. She has a mother, but was abandoned. She is super cute and loved by everyone at the Bamboo School.

The School is run by an Australian lady who has been living in Thailand for about 9 years. She is doing a wonderful job and seems to be able to conquer any problems that arise. She is everything from nurse to teacher to pastor to mom!
