Hood River & Mt. Hood

It has taken me so long to finish blogging about my 4th of July weekend trip to Oregon, but it was just too good to not blog about it..... so here it is!

Early Friday morning, Judith picked me up and we headed towards Mt. Hood to go climbing. We met up with my cousin George and his wife Katie (and son Tanner & dog Max!) in Sandy before heading up to French's Dome, where we spent a good portion of the day climbing. It was such a scenic drive out there!

The climbing was great! We each got in 3-4 climbs as well as a multi-pitch climb up the whole dome before rappelling down the other side.

The rock got pretty hot in the sun!

In between climbs, George would spend some quality time with his little boy

This kid gets to go climbing, kayaking, hiking, and whatever else mom & dad do!

And Katie even got to climb while someone else watched the baby.

Peace! (my hands are super dirty from belaying w/o gloves!)

Judith....playing in the meadow!

It was so great to see her!

After climbing, my parents picked me up and we headed around the backside of Mt. Hood to the adorable little town of Hood River......
I fell in love immediately!

We stayed in this cozy little B&B lodge

The owners, Lee & Linda, took great care of us!

They cooked up a hearty & delicious breakfast every morning

And we had a great view of Hood and the valley from the poarch

Another view of Hood

The flowers around there were just so vibrant & happy!!

And because of all the flowers and feeders, there were always lots of birds around

My parents....

Sunday morning, we went for a walk to a look-out point where we could see Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. It was a nice walk and a great view!

And then.....the whole reason we went down to Oregon.....the wedding! Around 2 in the afternoon, my friend Nissa walked down the aisle and exchanged vows with the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with! It was such a beautiful occasion!

Officially husband & wife!

My mom and her mom (and our grandparents) have been friends ever since, so it was natural that I would become friends with the girls (I'm actually closer - in age and otherwise - to Tasha, Nissa's older sister).

......and a beautiful end to a beautiful day!!

Nice blog, Mai. Way to show that yes, you CAN blog in North America! Keep it up!

Love all you casually threw in that classic Saipanism, "ever since."

Good to see both of you enjoying each others company.

I was climbing some potentially dangerous spiky rocks over the weekend here. No rope nor belaying necessary though...hehehe...
