The Sixth Generation

Last weekend, the descendants of Wilhelm & Anna Steinke (my great-great-great grandparents) gathered together for a family reunion in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Of course, Wilhelm & Anna are no longer alive, nor are my great-great grandparents (August & Carlina Steinke) or my great grandparents (Gustave & Martha Steinke). Actually, even my grandma is no longer living, but 5 of her siblings are still alive and were all at the reunion. Since the family goes back so many generations, there are many cousins, second cousins, great aunts & uncles and other distant relatives..... some that I don't really even know. But the majority of the relatives who come to these reunions are my closer relatives - my mom's cousins and their kids. It's always fun to get together with everyone and catch up.

The "family tree" - it's huge! (Fortunately, not everyone comes... otherwise we'd have to rent a convention centre!)

My "branch" of the tree

All the kids during the children's story at church - most of them belonged to us!

The 4th generation - these are my grandma's living brothers & sisters

The 5th generation - my mom (2nd from left) and her cousins

The 6th generation - (many are missing, there are about 20 more who didn't attend the reunion!)

Some of the 7th generation - they're so cute!

My great-aunt Violet... I love her!

Other "members" of the family: Dream...

....and Pepper

And an added bonus - the Wetaskiwin Airshow was going on on Sunday so we went and watched for a while.

Thanks Mai for posting pictures. Yours are the first ones we have seen. Guess we missed out on a great reunion.
