Laugh-Out-Loud
Today’s topic: 5 things that make me laugh-out-loud
1. My husband! Matt is so funny in a serious, matter-of-fact kind of way, but it’s a side of him that most people don’t get to see. Just the other day, I was laughing at something he had said or done and I was trying to express my wish that more people could experience his silly side, so I started saying, “You’re hilarious!! It’s just too bad that most people…” He interjected, saying, “….don’t think so?”
2. My cat! Nestor is constantly doing something to make us laugh - sometimes he means to, sometimes he doesn’t! He hides around corners and sneaks up on us. He grabs on to our ankles while we’re walking. He plays under the sheets when we’re trying to make the bed. Just everyday stuff that makes us laugh. But sometimes, he’s extra funny! Like when he was backing up slowly and wiggling his butt getting ready to pounce on my foot, but he backed up one too many steps & fell off the bed! Or when he took a running leap to try to catch the bird that was outside the window, but forgot that there’s a screen! Or last week when he was playing with the heap of Christmas lights that were on the floor, until he got tangled up and panicked, thinking they were now chasing him, and he took off running around the room dragging the lights behind him! He makes us laugh in so many ways!! Here’s a picture of him that makes me laugh, he’s so curious, but it looks like he’s trying to wash the dishes!!
3. Silly animal and baby videos. Because internet is expensive here, we don’t do it as much as we used to, but watching animals or babies doing funny things used to be a frequent pastime! They’re just so cute and funny at the same time!! One favourite is babies tasting lemon for the first time! Here’s a great animal one:
4. Corny jokes! My friend, and former roommate, Lizzy, is queen of corny jokes! And the great part is that I usually forget the punch line, so she can re-tell a joke to me numerous times and it makes me laugh again every time I hear it!! So now, even though we’re separated by many miles and time-zones, we often will send random texts back and forth when we hear a silly joke. Here’s the last joke we shared: What does a thesaurus eat for breakfast? [see below for answer]
5. Simple, harmless pranks (when played on others) - you know, like popping out and scaring someone. My favourite prank to play on my dad - works every time - is putting a rubber crocodile in his bed so when his feet touch it, he screams! My brother Ronald is my other favourite person to joke around with because he gets all worked up and it’s just so much fun to watch! (The downside to this one is that I like to give it, but don’t like taking it when the tables are turned!)
