Walking the Path
Today’s topic: Words of wisdom that speak to me.
Over the past few weeks, the topic of “The Will of God” seems to keep coming up in our Sabbath School discussions, Wednesday night Bible study, and my own personal devotions. So many questions kept circling in my mind, particularly how to explain God’s will when someone is experiencing great pain and suffering?
Something that stood out to me was from an article by Christine Suhan:
“God’s will is not the path we walk, but rather how we walk the path.”
We face decisions and circumstances each day where we might question, “What is God’s will in this?” And sometimes there might be a clear answer to which direction is God’s will, but other times, neither direction might be particularly right or wrong. I’m beginning to realize that there are so many things that happen in our lives that have nothing to do with God’s will, but rather a result of living in this sinful world. God’s will in the midst of all this is how we choose to respond to the circumstances that we face. First Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
No matter what happens, what God wants for us is to be thankful, joyful, and always remain connected to Him.
