Sliced Bread

You know that saying? “…..the best thing since sliced bread!”

I remember hearing that for the first time as a kid and thinking, “That’s a weird saying. What’s so great about sliced bread?” And it’s true, if you buy your bread from the store, it comes already sliced and most people don’t even think twice about it. It’s become an expected convenience.

However, I now make my own bread (because there isn’t much whole grain bread here and what there is, is often quite sweet) and it doesn’t come already sliced! We used to just cut as many slices that we needed at a time, but it’s a bit of a hassle to get out the board, the knife, and clean up all the crumbs every time…. so when we started slicing the whole loaf before putting it in the fridge or freezer, we realized just how amazing sliced bread really is!!
